The basement approaches for Leafs
What do you suppose is the overwhelming feeling running through the Leafs’ minds this morning? Could it be visions of a parade down Yonge Street with silver hardware on display? Is it the thoughts of hockey in June? Or is it a vision of Brian Burke handing out swords to the team so they could just go ahead and fall on them now and get it over with?
So four games and four losses in, with just 1 point up on the tally sheet, what’s the problem? Well, it isn’t rocket science. Taking the high road and solutions-orented approach, here it all is in nutshell glory.
Toskala needs to bone up or ship out. You call that goaltending? It’s a joke. We bad. We really bad. We got tough guys on our team and we bad. Everybody knows this. Stop taking cheap shots and dropping the gloves because someone used harsh language. You want to play 5 on 4 half the night with Crosby and Malkin on the ice? Let me know how that works out for ya. Start benching guys. There’s just no excuse for lack of effort. There’s only one place people can make this kind of money and sit around doing nothing – the Government. Guys that don’t want to put a little hustle in their stride should be riding the pine, packing their suitcases, and driving “For Sale” signs into their front lawn.
The disconnect between what is coming out of the coach’s mouth and what is being executes on the nice is huge. It’s a chasm of oblivion that will have a very predictable result – a good shot at winning the draft lottery next year. This is not Burke’s vision, notwithstanding Wilson is not his hire. Since they’re buddies and Wilson is less than 100 games into his Leafs tenure it’s safe to say his job is safe. For now. But someone needs to start listening or heads are going to roll. The Penguins were playing game 3 in 4 nights last night, lost to the woeful Coyotes, and should have been ripe for the picking of 2 points. Instead, it was the Leafs who looked like they were out of steam. Out of ideas. Out of desire and passion.
Just plain out of it.

This years Leaf team is the worst I have seen in franchise history for as long as I can remember. Fire Burke and Wilson, hire a couple of young passionate guys with futures. Start all over again. Burke was the worst move the franchise has ever made. The players are tired of Wilson already and there is nobody on the farm. I truly believe I could do alot better than Burke with the limited Junior A hockey experience I have. I would also do it for 10% of what he is making. What a joke Burke has become.

Kinda tough on Burkie there aren’t you? He hasn;t been here a full season yet. He cleaned house, changed the culture, and the kessel deal hasn’t played itself out yet.
