Not the same Auld story
Alex AUld did poorly in Phoenix. In 9 games he gave up 30 goals and put up some fairly lousy numbers. Gretzky jettisoned him off to Boston and last night he played his first game as a Bruin. Auld played well, showing that a lumbering, 6′ 4″ 220 pound can be just as fast (and cover more of the net) as a little guy. And… he got the desired result.
The Leafs played a decent game. Tight checking. Outshot the Bruins. Auld was the difference I think, though Boston plays a tight trap sending one guy in on the forecheck with the other 4 bottling up the neutral zone. It managed to stifle the Leafs last night anyways.
So Tampa is in town next, then an protracted road swing for most of the month. I’m suggesting that the Leafs will find oout this month what the rest of the season is going to look like if they don’t make any serious moves.
