Leafs end slide – fragile mercies

The brutality of October seemed to have begun to dissipate. Leading up to Remembrance Day there was 10 of a possible 14 points captured. Kessel seemed to bring a spark.

Then the wheels, wobbly as they were, fell off again. Another 5 game slide.

Ovechkin and the Capitals provided little entertainment last night other than a shining performance by their goaltender, and the Leafs managed to squeek out the extra point in the shootout. As frail a mercy as it is, Leafs Nation I’m sure will take it. Maybe not as a sign. Maybe just as a stay of execution. Just their 4th regulation in 21 games surely isn’t enough to keep the axe from falling somewhere.

It was Toskala’s 8th start - and only his first win.

GO? Go Leafs?  == whimper == Go Leafs Go?
