Baby steps for Leafs

The Lightning are in town, together with arguably the best player in the NHL. Vincent Lecavalier is the leagues top scorer going into tonight’s tilt. Count’em, 45 points in 29 games. A banner year for Vincent. The Lightning are however the worst road team in the league. Good thing their not facing the best home team in the league.

Not a banner year for Bates Battaglia.

The winger became expendable when he hit new lows in the plus/minus (-6), and since he’d only played in 2 games, the Leafs placed the 32 year old on waivers. It could go either way. I doubt he’ll clear waivers, but you never know. In the meantime Wade Belak is filling in. Nicely, I might add.

Colaiacovo

Carlo Colaiacovo is skating well and thinks he’ll be back in the lineup for the bells ring in 2008. Maurice is taking a cautious stand in his return. Marred by repeated injuries to just about every extremity (including the noggin), The Leafs’ 17th pick overall in 2001 just plain isn’t panning out. It’s thought that barring any sudden rise in his stock, this is his last year as a Leaf.

GO LEAFS GO!!!
